Gulyás is probably the most fundamental and famous Hungarian meal, which's name has wandered over to a great diversity of foreign languages. Many variants exist in its way of preparation, since it has been consumed all over the Karpathian Basin for centuries. There are smaller are larger divergences in its traditional preparation in the different regions of the country.
Hortobágy is a 115 quadrat-kilometer territory, covered by alkaline soil, ranging from the Hajdúság to the line of the river Tisza. Its wildlife is under increased protection, Hungary's first National Park functions here, where rare species live that cannot be found elsewhere.
Paprika originates from Central-America and the Southern parts of Mexico. Here the spice has been known for thousands of years. The findings of Tehuacan Valley certify that 3000 years ago, the inhabitants have already grown the plant.
Tokaj Hegyalja lies on the southern hills of the mountains of Zemplén. Here grows the world famous grape type from which the celebrated wine-gastronomical nectar is made.
Viniculture has a history of 6000 years, the first cellars were the ones of the ancient Italy, these provided the inhabitants with the sweet nectar. Wine has been an important element of cultic rites and sacrifices since early times.
